Two Supporters Conquer ‘The Wall’ and Raise Over £3,000 for Cystic Fibrosis Care
On Saturday 14th June, Josh Buckley and Steve Wakelin took on the epic endurance challenge known as The Wall—a 70-mile run/walk from Carlisle Castle to the Millennium Bridge in Newcastle—raising over £3,000 in support of Cystic Fibrosis Care.
Taking on this ultra-distance event for the first time, the duo completed the course in an astonishing 22 and a half hours, pushing through fatigue, pain, and injuries along the way. Josh shared:
“It was a fantastic day and great to raise money for such an important cause, despite us both carrying injuries for a good chunk of the walk (Steve in particular). We’d like to thank everyone that donated—it kept us going through the full 22 and a half hours!”
Organised by Rat Race Adventures, The Wall is no small feat—covering 70 miles in under 26 hours, it challenges even the most experienced endurance athletes. Josh and Steve had never attempted a long-distance challenge before, making their achievement all the more inspiring.
They chose to raise funds for Cystic Fibrosis Care, a charity close to Josh’s heart. The funds raised will go directly towards helping individuals and families affected by CF—providing welfare grants, emotional support, essential physio and medical equipment, and funding specialist CF nurse training.
We are incredibly grateful to Josh and Steve for their grit, determination, and support—and to everyone who donated. You have helped make a real difference to people living with Cystic Fibrosis.
