Cystic Fibrosis Care received a £500 Donation from Stockton Cystic Fibrosis Sunday Darts League to Benefit Local Patients and Families

The Stockton Cystic Fibrosis Sunday Darts League, a vibrant mixed darts league involving local pubs and clubs in and around Stockton-on-Tees, recently gifted a donation of £500 to Cystic Fibrosis Care. This donation will directly support Cystic Fibrosis sufferers and their families in the Teesside area receiving care at the James Cook Hospital and the RVI, providing vital medical equipment and essential welfare grants to ease their burdens.

The Cystic Fibrosis Sunday Darts League, renowned for its lively Sunday night matches featuring mixed teams of men and ladies, kicks off its exciting new season on September 10th. This season, the league comprises eight teams from various pubs across the town, each player contributing £1 every Sunday to participate in the tournament.

Over the years, the league has established a deep-rooted commitment to supporting Cystic Fibrosis charities, with a remarkable track record of raising funds for over four decades. To date, their collective efforts have raised over £75,000 for the cause.

Doreen McQuade, Former President of the league’s committee, shared her heartfelt sentiments, “The annual tournament fosters fierce competition among the eight teams, and winning becomes even more meaningful when we know that our contribution directly aids the local Cystic Fibrosis community in Stockton.”

The inspiration behind this longstanding support was Keith Hornby, the landlord of the Hardwick Pub, who had a personal connection to Cystic Fibrosis through his nephew, Michael. Keith’s dedication set the league on a path of compassion and generosity that continues to make a tangible impact on the lives of Cystic Fibrosis sufferers.

The recent £500 donation to Cystic Fibrosis Care, a Yorkshire charity closely associated with the James Cook Hospital, will significantly contribute to the acquisition of essential medical equipment for the hospital’s specialised Cystic Fibrosis Unit. Moreover, the funds will provide much-needed welfare grants to help patients and their families manage various expenses during challenging times, such as transportation costs for hospital visits, Food Vouchers or Energy grants.

Patricia Kilpatrick, founder and director of Cystic Fibrosis Care, expressed her gratitude, saying, “We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all the dedicated darts players whose involvement makes a meaningful difference. This donation will directly benefit our local community by procuring an E-Flow nebuliser for the hospital’s unit, enhancing the lung function and well-being of a young Cystic Fibrosis patient.”
