CYSTIC FIBROSIS CARE CELEBRATES £39,500 INVESTMENT IN LEEDS

The Seacroft Cystic Fibrosis Outpatients Unit and St James CF Unit in Leeds opened newly refurbished facilities thanks to a significant investment of £39,500, generously provided by Cystic Fibrosis Care, a small UK charity founded and run by parents and connections of people with Cystic Fibrosis. The grant was provided to fund several essential projects aimed at enhancing patient care and well-being within the hospital premises.

These include:

Seacroft Clinic Room Refurbishment: The clinic rooms have been soundproofed, a new private area was created for the CF Team and patients to have one-to-one clinic calls, promoting confidential and effective patient consultations.

New Kitchen on CF J06 Ward: A fully equipped kitchen has been established on the CF J06 Ward, providing a comfortable space for patients and staff, ensuring nutritious drinks and snacks are readily available to support the overall well-being of patients.

Improvements have been made to the Isolation Area: This is to provide a safe and secure environment for patients requiring isolation during their treatment.

A new treatment gym room has been equipped with the latest facilities to support the physical rehabilitation and therapy needs CF patients, helping their journey towards recovery.

Patricia Kilpatrick, Charity Director of Cystic Fibrosis Care and CF Consultant Professor Daniel Peckham and the CF team  carried out an official opening ceremony of the new area on J06 ward at St James’s University Hospital.

Professor Daniel Peckham said that he would like to thank Cystic Fibrosis Care for their generous donation and the new facilities will significantly improve the quality of care for people with CF.

Patricia Kilpatrick said that Cystic Fibrosis Care are delighted to be able to support the hospital and improve the hospital experience for the patients.
