Meet Team CF Care: Maddie Brown and Lucy Walker
We are delighted to introduce two members of Team CF Care, Maddie Brown and Lucy Walker, who will be taking on the Great North Run this September.
For Maddie, supporting Cystic Fibrosis Care is deeply personal. Her husband, Olly, lives with Cystic Fibrosis, and through him she has witnessed the strength, resilience and determination it takes to manage the condition every day.
Inspired by Olly’s determination, Maddie decided it was time to take on a challenge of her own. She has been joined by her friend, Lucy, who will be running alongside her every step of the way, offering encouragement and support as they complete the 13.1-mile course together.
Maddie’s Story:
This year, my lovely friend Lucy and I are running the Great North Run together in support of Cystic Fibrosis Care, a cause that is incredibly close to our hearts. Lu has very kindly agreed to join me for moral support and together we’re hoping to raise as much money as possible for this incredible charity.
Through my husband, Olly, I’ve seen the strength, resilience and determination it takes to live with cystic fibrosis. He is the most incredible person I have ever met. Living with CF means there are daily challenges, treatments, hospital visits and constant worries, yet he never lets any of it define him. Through carefully managing his condition, he’s gone on to run a number of marathons and half marathons in unbelievably impressive times, something that inspires everyone around him. Olly has shown me that if he can achieve these amazing things whilst living with cystic fibrosis, then I can certainly attempt to tackle 13.1 miles too… even if I won’t be quite as quick as him!
