Evans House at Sedbergh School are holding a fundraiser for CF Care in memory of a treasured friend and housemate.
This is their story:
Earlier this year, we lost someone incredibly special, our housemate our good friend, Charlie, who was part of Evans House and our daily lives. Charlie had cystic fibrosis, a condition he lived with from birth. Despite the challenges he faced, Charlie’s warmth, creativity, and unshakable kindness touched everyone who knew him.
Charlie was more than just a friend. He was a part of our family at school; someone we learned with, laughed with, grew and developed alongside with. He brought light into every room, always making time for others even when he was facing struggles of his own.
Cystic fibrosis is a serious genetic condition that affects the lungs and digestive system. Around 10,000 people in the UK live with CF, and tragically, many won’t live to see their 40th birthday. Charlie’s condition was severe-he faced years of hospital visits and eventually needing a double lung transplant. Despite everything, he never stopped being a positive force.
Now, in Charlie’s memory, the boys of Evans House are coming together to complete an Ironman relay seeing us as a house swim, bike, and run to raise funds for Cystic Fibrosis Care, a charity close to Charlie’s heart and family.
This isn’t just about the miles we’ll cover. It’s about honouring Charlie’s strength, raising awareness for CF, and helping others who are fighting the same battle Charlie fought so bravely.
Any donation, big or small will make a difference. It will go directly to Cystic Fibrosis Care, supporting families, research, and the ongoing fight against this devastating disease.
Thank you for helping us keep Charlie’s memory alive and for supporting a cause that means so much to us all.
